Mission

Welcome to the GEI Website!
Welcome to the Gender Education Initiative website at the University
of California, Irvine. The GEI advances the promotion of gender
education on campus and within our community and strives to foster a
supportive, inclusive envrionment for all students, faculty, and staff
at the university.
The Gender Education Initiative task force
firmly believes that part of students leading extraordinary lives
requires our campus and community members to be a place where all
cultures and people, regardless of gender, are respected and
appreciated. In efforts to educate the university community about
gender in all its various forms, the GEI promotes essential values that
help sustain this diversity -- including respect for others, close
personal relationships, effective communication, and an engaged concern
for the common good.
